Doris Elaine Cureton Holt

Doris Elaine Cureton Holt went to be with her Lord on Monday, August 10, 2009 at the Baptist Convalescent Center of Newport, Tennessee. She was preceded in death by her husband Cloyd Holt; daughter Shelby Jean Holt; daughter-in-law Carlotta Etherton Holt; parents Glenn and Jessie Cureton; brothers John B. Cureton, David Cureton, and Floyd and Lloyd (Dudley) Cureton; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law Oamie and John Boglino, Robert Holt, Bartley Holt, and Willard Holt. Doris was one of the original founding members of St. Tide Baptist Church.

She is survived by her children and their spouses Billy C. (Martha) Holt of Newport, Joyce (Danny) Caldwell of Parrottsville, and Janice (Rick) Woody of Dandridge; grandchildren Melanie (Jonathan) Askew, Tiffany (Dennis) Webb and Benji Holt and fiancee’ Heather Douglas all of Newport; great-grandsons Brock D. Webb, Kyle S. Webb, and Joshua C. Askew all of Newport; sisters Marie (Gordon) Wood, Frances (Tommy) Edwards, and Maxine Cameron; brother Earl (Joyce) Cureton of Newport; brothers-in-law Connie (Beulah) Holt of Bybee,Paul (Joyce) Holt of Bristol; sisters-in-law Jean Cureton of Newport, Irene Cureton of Dandridge, Margie Holt of Dandridge, Gertie Holt of Parrottsville, Penny Holt of Bybee, and Nannie (Sanford) Davis of Merriellville, Indiana.

Funeral services will be 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2009 in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home with Rev. James Suggs, Rev. J.D. Sisk, and Rev. Tommy Ball officiating. Graveside services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, August 13, 2009 at Resthaven Memorial Gardens; family will receive friends 6:00-8:00 p.m. Wednesday, August 12, 2009 prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family send a special thank you to Dr. James Williams and the staff at the Baptist Convalescent Center for the care and love given to our Mother.

    I just found out about your Mother. I am so very sorry. I don’t get the newspaper and didn’t have any idea. Samantha just called and told me. She doesn’t get the paper either. We were just talking Tuesday about your Mom. If we had known, we would have been there for you. I know how much I appreciated you when Mom passed. You are in my thoughts and prayers.

    I did not know about your Mom’s passing until Lisa shared her email with me about it today. We know she is smiling down on you and her loved ones right now with her wings and halo.
