Dewey Henderson

Dewey Henderson, age 63, of Newport, passed away Friday, September 4, 2009 at Fort Sanders Regional Medical Center.

He was preceded in death by his brother; Doyle Andrew Henderson, sisters; Alice Alline Henderson and Ann Kelorye, and his father; Otto Henderson.

He is survived by his wife; Dorothy Henderson, mother; Virtia Henderson, brothers; Alonzo and Walter Henderson all of Newport, daughters; Robin (Wes) Gourley of Newport, Karen (Calvin) Christley of Eden, NC, and Rhonda Burchell of Reidsville, NC, sons; Kevin Chainey of Millville, NJ and Danny Hughes of FL, stepchildren; Dale (Alecia )Douglas, Jason(Melody) Douglas, Jill Smith and Jimmy Smith all of Newport, 16 grandchildren, and 6 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 p.m., Sunday, September 6, 2009 in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Henderson and Rev. Ransom Hall officiating. Interment will follow in McMillian Cemetery (Denton ) . The family will receive friends from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Saturday, September 5, 2009 in chapel of Brown Funeral Home.

    Henderson family, my family and I are so sad to hear of Dewey’s passing. All my sisters and I loved Dewey and his brothers like they were our own brothers. We grew up together. My mother is very sad to hear the sad news. She is unable to travel to Tenn. from Fla. Dewey was a great friend, always willing to lend a hand to anyone who needed him. All his family and friends are going to miss him a lot. Our family is very sorry for your loss….

    Henderson Family,

    I worked with Dewey for many years, he was one of best friends.
