Lois Josephine McCoig Cox
Lois Josephine McCoig Cox, 73.
Went to be with our LORD on October 8, 2009 at her devoted son’s Ernie Cox’s home. Some called her Lois, Jo, Josie, Momma, Mamaw, Sister, or Nurse but so very many of you called her your best friend. She spent 29 years taking care of your sick children at Children’s Hospital in Knoxville, a job she very much loved. She was preceded in death by her parents Olen McCoig and Leona Mot Ledford McCoig. She has left behind a wonderful family, her son Ernie Cox and his wife Rose, her stepson, Perry Cox and his wife Swana. Her grand-children are Lori and Sarah Cox, Michael, Amanda, Matthew, Alicia, and Amy, along with several great grandchildren. She also left behind her wonderful brothers and sister: Charles Ray McCoig and wife Alda, William McCoig and Mary Fowler and husband Louis. Her special nephew and nieces are Timmy McCoig, Tammy Lawson and Tonya Owens and their children. She also left behind her kind brother-in- law Jim Cox, and a host of great friends that are too many to list. Come and celebrate her life with us on Sunday and then again on Monday to say our farewells. However, this is not forever because she professed Jesus Christ as her Savior so we know we will see her again. Rev. Ed Frazier, Chad Scarbro, Mark McCoig, and James Robertson will officiate the services. Funeral services are going to be held at Open Door Church on Hwy 25/70 at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 10, 2009 in Newport, TN; visitation from 2:00-3:00 prior to the service at Open Door Church; Monday, October 11, 2009, she will lie in state at Sharron Church in Knoxville from 3:00 till 5:00 pm. Interment will follow at Sharron Church Cemetery.

Dear Ernie and all family,
Please accept my family’s sincere sympathy during your time of grieving. I am sorry that I will be unable to attend the funeral service. But I want you to know that we will be praying for all of you in your pain – and praising our Lord for Josephine’s welcome home. Her profession of Christ, and her service to Him in this life, give us great confidence that she has heard: “Well done, good and faithful (servant)…enter into the joy of your Master!” For we do not grieve “as do the rest who have no hope.” For our hope is built upon Jesus Christ and His resurrection!
In Christ’s Love,
Rev. Dale, Marianne, Joanie and Philip McCoig
