Sallie Ann Smith

Sallie Ann Smith, age 67, of Newport, passed away Thursday, November 12, 2009 at Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System. She was a member of Shady Grove Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by her father, Orlie Homer Wood, Sr.

She is survived by her husband James A. Smith, Sr., daughter Jeanie Ann Smith, son James A. “Jimmy” Smith, Jr., mother Cora Wood, brothers; Orlie Homer Wood, Jr., and Jakie Charles Wood, sisters; Christine Willis, Mary Ann Wood, Della Jane Allen, Barbara Baker and Patricia Gail Morrison, several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be at 7:00 p.m. on Friday, November 13, 2009 in the chapel of Brown Funeral Home with Rev. James Suggs and Rev. Ransom Hall officiating. The family will meet at Mantooth Cemetery on Saturday, November 14, 2009 for an 11:00 a.m. interment. The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on Friday, prior to the service at the funeral home.
