Back Online
If you’ve noticed we were offline for a short time, although it felt like forever. The news has been full of stories of banks, mortgage companies and investments firms going out of business with the economy. There is a trickle down effect to all that as we found out, Internet hosting companies. We found that the company we were hosted with had closed down without notice due to economic situations.
We were able to restore back-ups at a new host after few days of waiting to get everything transferred. So if you’ve been putting off backing up your home computer, business system or website, it might be a good idea you never know when things can go wrong.
We have changed the e-mail subscription of updates to the site to another service. If you had previously subscribed you will have to resubmit your e-mail and confirm the subscription. Because of regulations regarding e-mails we can’t re-enter your e-mail addresses. We’re sorry for the inconvenience that this may cause, but we also want to comply the law. In addition if you want to keep up with obituaries and are a Twitter user, you can follow our updates at NewportFunerals where we will be publishing short notices of obituaries. Twitter is a ‘micro-blogging’ service that allows you to send and recieve short updates via the Internet, web enabled P.D.A. or cellphone in almost real time. If you are a Facebook user you can also add us there to find updates on obituaries and services.
All these Internet based services may seem like to much and we tend to think so at times but we were surprised by how many people were concerned while we were getting back up how much you rely on the Internet to keep to up date. When we started the website we wanted to offer more of a Web 2.0 functionality that many of you use daily. What we found was that there was nothing offered in the funeral industry, so we had to build it. We hope that the site can make it easier for you keep up date with our services, offer your condolences and share with your family and friends. We still have a couple more services to add to the site and hopefully the move to a new host will make that possible much faster.
